Thing 1 and Thing 2

Our good friends, Pete and Laura, are preparing to have twins in about 2 months. Pete and Dave used to work together at Bell, until Pete jumped ship awhile ago. We wanted to celebrate, and since all the husbands are such good friends, it made sense to make it a fun couples party. They're having a boy and a girl, so we wanted to make it a theme that wasn't too boyish or too girlish...plus, we didn't' want to scare away the men with too much baby looking stuff! Thanks to Pinterest, we got fantastic ideas for a Thing 1 and Thing 2 shower.

How cute are these little onesies???

I was so happy with how these whimsical centerpieces turned out.
Very Dr. Seuss-ish!

We had to "man" up the shower a bit, so we had burgers, hot dogs, and chips for dinner. Oh, and lots and lots of beer.

The cupcakes were the biggest disappointment. I blame Pinterest. We saw these awesome cupcakes with blue cotton candy "hair." I borrowed a friends' cotton candy machine, and made them so cute. After about 15 minutes, the cotton candy totally melted and got all gross. You can see it all withered in the above pic. Oh well. Pinterest FAIL!

For dessert we had an ice cream bar. It was delicious. My co-host, Melissa, made the amazing m&m bowl with kit kats on the outside. SO cute, and SO yummy!

We are so excited to welcome these 2 precious babies!

NINE

Today, Dave and I are celebrating 9 years of marriage! It seems like yesterday that we got married, except here we are with 3 kids, our 2nd house, our 5th car, and years of fun and challenges. I couldn't imagine a better life partner!

9 years ago: (and that was one of the most fun days of my life!)

and here we are today (a little bigger, a little happier, a little older, and hopefully a little wiser):
and 3 little people to add to our home and hearts.

and here's to many, many more!

Quasi-Camping

Memorial Day weekend we went for our 3rd annual "camping" trip to my parent's house up in Oklahoma. I say "quasi" because typically the men/kids camp while us ladies sleep in the comfort of beds and air conditioning. We always have a blast, and this year was no different. We added a new family this year, so it was fun to show the "newbies" the ropes. We hit the usual spots: Kiddie Park, Dinks, and Woolaroc. My dad got a horse this year, and this one was a little extra special because she came with her 1 month old baby colt! The kids were wild for the little baby horse. My dad also brought over my brother's '76 Land Cruiser. He and Garrett took off the doors, roof, and windshield, and then mowed a path around the property. It was so fun going around the property...we even discovered a Mulberry tree and Blackberry bushes (how did I never know those were there???)!!!
It was a perfect weekend with friends, and we're already looking forward to next year...with my sister finally joining us!

My mom and I and the kids got there a day early to set up tents, go grocery shopping, and spend some time with my grandma.

my Grandma has really gotten in some good time with the boys in the past month or so. She was very
excited to feed Crew his breakfast!
We hit Kiddie Park Friday and Saturday night. Watching the kids on the bumper cars is probably a highlight of the weekend for me.

The kids (and adults) LOVED going for rides on the Cruiser! (check out the baby horse!)

The kids think it's the best thing ever to get out their seats and stick their heads out the window as we cruise through Woolaroc.
This year we went to the Mountain Man exhibit, and Hudson shot a rifle (first time ever!), and they both threw tomahawks. Super cool.
William and Emily wrote a book, complete with illustrations. It was a "fantasy" story that combined their camping weekend with Narnia (they watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe one afternoon while the dads played golf). It was priceless, and they worked on it for HOURS!

Such a fun weekend with sweet friends!

8 months

I really need to blog about our recent camping trip to Oklahoma, but before I do, I need to document Crew's 8 month birthday!

If these pictures look a little blurry, it's because they are. This kid is ON THE MOVE!
Crew is crawling all over the place, and I think he's on the verge of walking. Yes, you heard me correctly. He likes to stand. He pulls up on everything. He's nearly walking around things. In fact, the other day he was holding my mom's hands, let go and TOOK A STEP towards me!
Crew is still one of the happiest babies on the block. He is definitely the most easy going of all my babies. I mean, what do you expect with a 3rd child, right?
He usually takes an 1.5hr nap in the morning, and a 2-3hour nap in the afternoon. He goes to bed around 8pm and gets up around 7:30/8am. As a 3rd child, he's learning to be very flexible with his schedule. And at this point, he's still pretty happy about it.
He LOVES to be outside. He loves the pool...and splashing around in the water, and watching his brothers swim like fish. We've gotten into riding bikes as a family, and he's a fan of his sweet ride in the trailer behind my bike.
As happy as he is most of the time, he has 'learned' how to throw a tantrum. It's actually kind of funny to watch. William and Hudson's eyes get so big when he does it, and it's like they want to warn him "don't do it buddy. It won't bode well for you in the future!"
He still eats mostly pureed food, but he has started loving feeding himself some of the same stuff we eat. It's so fun to watch him become more independent!

For comparison purposes:

off to Pre-K!

I feel like a broken record: life is flying by, and I just can't believe Hudson will be in Pre-K next year!

We absolutely loved his class this year. He had several of his classmates from his class last year, which was very fun. His 2 best friends, William and Reid, were what gave Hudson the drive to go to school every Tuesday and Thursday.

Hudson did great in his program. Being a child of mine, he was in the back of the pack, so I didn't get a great pic. Thankfully, he's wearing orange, so he's easy to spot!

with his buddy, Reid

we loved Ms Lisa!

and we loved Ms Andrea too!

First and Last

Yes, I realize this is about 3 weeks late, but I still want to document it. (PS. we've been CRAZY busy the last few weeks. blogs to come on that...)

First Day of School:

Last day of school:

As you can see, they've grown a lot this year! It looks like Hudson has grown about 3-4 inches, and William about 2-3. What is happening to my babies!!!!???
GOOFBALLS!!!
