Mud Bugs

Every year the town we live in has a huge Crawfish event. (A friend of mine recently called them "mud bugs" to me...gross, but I guess it's true!) It's really fun, there's a live band, yummy food, and the streets are closed so the kids can run wild. This year was no different.

The best thing about this year was that the crawdaddies were nice and big! The bad parts were 1)they raised the price and 2)only 1 potato and 1 corn! What a rip. The past few years the kids didn't really care about eating them. They'd try 1 or 2, but could take or leave them. This year, they LOVED them. I guess we'll need 2 trays next year!

Ice Cream Truck

I'm not a big fan of the ice cream truck. 1)the truck creeps me out, 2)the man driving the truck usually creeps me out, and 3)it's gotten terribly expensive over the years. We've never bought anything from the truck when it's annoyingly driving through our neighborhood (and coincidentally, ALWAYS during naptime). But a few weeks ago, we were at the local Crawfish festival, and he was parked there. So, for a special treat for the kids, we let them each get an ice cream. They both picked Rocket Pops (because they both want to be astronauts when they get "big like daddy")

So, I guess the ice cream man isn't all that bad (see, he's making sure the boys don't fall out of the truck!). Maybe I'll let them get the occasional ice cream this summer when the truck comes strolling down our street.

An Evening with Friends

On Saturday night, we went to Ancient Ovens. If you read my birthday post back in October, you'll remember that Dave took me here for my birthday dinner. It was so wonderful and fun that we had to go back, but take friends this time. The unfortunate part of the evening was that it POURED and HAILED for most of the evening, so the dinner was held inside. In fact, about 20 miles east there were tornado warnings, and the sirens were blowing when we went by!

One of the main draws of this place (besides the super yummy food) is the atmosphere of being outside, etc... But, we made the most of it, and we still had a wonderful time chatting (with NO kids!!), eating, and drinking (well, not a lot of drinking for me...)

We plan to go back in the summer when there's less chance of rain! Although, then I guess we'll be fighting mosquitos and sweating to death...

iPhone dump

It's been awhile since I've blogged. There's really no excuse except that I haven't taken out the camera in awhile, so I don't have any blog-worthy pics to post. And who likes to read a blogpost without pics??? But, I just unloaded pics from my iphone, and I found a few treasures on there...

William climbed a tree all by himself for the very first time!!
